Station Challenge 3
Station Challenge 3 is a short challenge, and will involve the creation of a promotional advert for a film to be broadcast on either a regional or national basis.

This promotion is advised to include:
  • clips of the film in question within your chosen caption promotion style
  • film-specific promotional graphics, e.g. narrating the continuity announcer on-screen, in a style that matches the film
  • specialised endboard, which could include the film title
  • indication of choice of music
  • promotion of time
  • indication of script of the continuity announcer
  • Indication of storyboard of the promotion

Of course you will also include your franchise name and logo. Since this is an open challenge, digital channels may also apply, however they will not be able to advertise their chosen film as a network film.

I did originally set a film, although upon discussing with some other members, I've decided to let each member choose their own particular film, although I would emphasise the latest film that could be used would probably be 2005. For films in 2005, see Wikipedia - 2005 in film. You could use a film as a network premiere, and should be of a reasonable genre. Family films are more likely to be promoted more and will receive a more suitable timeslot.

As I say, this is a light challenge for the time being. There is until Monday 16 June to create the promotions. Entrance is optional, and video is not a requirement - it is up to the member whether to use pictures & text or video or a combination of one or many. Voting will commence by the entire community following its closure, which will last 7 days. Three winners will be unveiled, and will be awarded as per the Network's station challenge points system.

I am also planning a further Station Challenge which will be a more typical challenge regarding genre, which will probably be around in late July or August.

It would appear Mark has stole my SC idea Toungue

I must make this very clear now, if a video is produced, due to legal reasons, the promos must ideally not exceed 30 seconds, especially if music is used in them. Any videos which I deem to be in violation of copyright law will be removed immediately.

(I'm putting a lot of effort into trying to fit this in to getting it done, I'm attempting to do a video but finding it hard to get video footage)

[This post will be updated as more work is done]

Rowby Television would like to announce a new Showtime presentation, STRANGER THAN FICTION

[I understand the film was made in 2007, but there's been a few films out already this year that were released in '06 - and I have a lot of StF material on my PC anyway, so why not put it to good use...]

This will be the main promotion style, based on the movie poster, using the Rowby rectangle =]

I have a question: could all of these be achieved if you do not have video-making capabilities or choose not to make a video thereof?

Yes:
1. Pictures with your graphics
2. Graphics reflecting what might be said in continuity over it
3. Design the end graphic of the promotion
4. Inform us of the type of music you're using
5. Write the time the film will be shown on the graphics
6. and 7. Script and/or storyboard

We can't expect everybody to have video producing facilities.

Anyway, since I'm rather busy at the moment, I won't enter the challenge. Although at a later date, I might post what I would have done, should I have entered.

RE: Station Challenge 3
Due to circumstances in my own life beyond my control, I'm afraid I will not able to finish my contribution to this Station Challenge 3 by the set deadline. So I am forced to bow out.

But, like Mark, at a later date I might post what I would have done, when I do get around to finishing it.

RE: Station Challenge 3
By the look of things it looks like I fit under that category too. Too short a deadline.
