Survey: Your Role
I've made a survey of some questions. How exciting is that? I was just wondering how everybody takes their role here and what they think about it etc etc, just click Quote to get all the [ B ] codes.

What got you intrested in television? And in particular, presentation of it?

Have you always wanted to do something in television?

How did you choose the name for your region/channel? Is there any meaning behind it?

What indentifies your company well in the logo alone? Eg, the symbols in it, or the font? (Colours and all that don't count!)

If you produce programmes, how do you think up programmes, and in particular names of them?

How importantly do you take action with your franchise?

I'll post mine later =]

Always have. People think I'm sad for it. Got more interested after getting the net and accessing sites particulary Digital Spy, TV-ARK, The TV Room and TV Forum. The technical aspect was very much inspired at first when I recieved my own DTT reciever, and I started recording frequencies, modes and so on that the box reported (as the old ONdigital box did not give such information). After getting the net, I interpreted them and gradually absorbed more information. I later realised the state ITV had got into upon discovering the horrific story (I had no idea Carlton and Granada had merged Shocked ), which got me into all types of regional memories and other presentation along the way.

However I've always been interested by TV Pres. I remember how scary those old BBC2 logos were and the "amazing" differences between Granada and Central as the same TV channel Toungue

Have you always wanted to do something in television?

Not particulary. but it is interesting and it could be a future consideration should I get my education in that direction.

How did you choose the name for your region/channel? Is there any meaning behind it?

Emoa = Name of former website. Also a place in Africa. Original and unique.
NETV= North East Television - a prospective ITV company which came to bid for the North East franchise in 1993. Evolved from the original name "tv ne" which was inspired by sister "tv gael"; itself inspired from the APFS mocks set "TeleGael".
GTV = Gael Television - originally "tv gael", inspired from "TeleGael" a former mock set on APFS
Neptune = chosen by one of my friends who breifly contributed for a while

What indentifies your company well in the logo alone? Eg, the symbols in it, or the font? (Colours and all that don't count!)

My original logo was quite Carlton-inspired I think Toungue . They've just evolved after that, and the new one is actually based upon the pattern of holes in the top of a pepper pot which I saw whilst on a date! I've always liked the shape of stars and other celestial objects, though Lambie-Nairn's "stars" design for Carlton in 1999 was really impressive.

The GTV logo was inspired from a funny-shaped "G" I saw on a suGar canister in my Nain's house, and the NETV logo was just made to fit with the inspired GTV one.

There is a reason behind the colour scheme, though it is unique and original within the network. The star symbol signifies Emoa as a star amongst the vortex of television.

If you produce programmes, how do you think up programmes, and in particular names of them?

First Avenue is based upon a rough council street nearby my old school in Gwersyllt, Wrexham. Its got such a huge reputation for vandalism, chavs, fights, general chingwagging, police chases, and even attempted murder Shocked . I've always said First Avenue would get high ratings if it were a TV soap!
Chain Links is inspired from Dalziel and Pascoe, and the name just came accross whilst I was searching Freefoto for a screencap image for it (a chain). The USE is quite inspired by some of these political dramas in the UK, mainly those on More4, and a lot of topical things going on in the EU.

How importantly do you take action with your franchise?

What do you mean?? (I'll fill in when I know!)

I don't really know; I think it is just that I'm always interested in technical things, and therefore televsion, and have been amazed at how it is all possible. I always love good looking graphics, no matter where they are. I find television presentation usually produces great graphics and a large variety of them, they give me inspiration for ideas my self.

Have you always wanted to do something in television?
Yeah, I have planned to go into the technical side of television: camera operator, director, graphic/presentation designer, and I may do that one day.

How did you choose the name for your region/channel? Is there any meaning behind it?
scoTV: Portmanteau of 'Scotland' and 'Television'
fourtsnetworks: A very long story involving the adding on, abbreviation and changing or parts of the word.

What indentifies your company well in the logo alone? Eg, the symbols in it, or the font? (Colours and all that don't count!)
I've always liked the Helvetica set of fonts as well as DINMittelschrift, and I always seem to use one or both of them in my logos. The original inspiration for the current logo was inspired by both CISIX and ITV. The semitransparent 'V' and et cetra? I've seen something a bit like that before. The colours were chosen as I have always liked the appearance of black on red. The logo is very versatile as it can be modified for multichannels, different divisions or even different franchises. I think the box is identifing, in its shape and usual slanted appearance. I've never seemed to like boxes on TV but in the scoTV logo it seems quite good.

If you produce programmes, how do you think up programmes, and in particular names of them?
Hmm, that's the thing, I don't produce much programs as I find it hard to think of ideas. Currently I'm thinking up some new programs based on personal experiences and the things around me, the things around me are good inspiration for nature documentaries. The names, well Andy Wilkins Live and scoTV Newshour are practically stock standard names, but for the new programming I manipulate the words (eg synonmys) or use puns based on the general topic or main part of the program.

How importantly do you take action with your franchise?
Well, recently I've had a lot going on, in general, but on the net with the launch of a few new sites and participation in similar games. I try to do as much as I can when I can but these days it gets a bit hard with everything going on.

RE: Survey: Your Role
Well, this topic as old as APFS, but anyway...

What got you interested in television? And in particular, presentation of it?

(remember, I come from entirely different country! And, btw, not as bad as some people think.)
It comes from my childhood. Firstly, when I was watching television (news in particular), I was watching the presentation, then content. And, regarding the British presentation, it came from my summer holidays in Turkey, with BBC World News on.

Have you always wanted to do something in television?

Well, I wanted sometimes to be a presenter, but now, I'm more interested in gallery/design work. Anyway, a good reason to learn!

How did you choose the name for your region/channel? Is there any meaning behind it?

Londay Television name came to me, when I was trying to make the ident package for London Weekday franchise (it was the first to pop up in this franchise round). I didn't gave any meaning to it, but now it's an acronym (LONdon WeekDAY (in its universe, it was knocked up quickly) or ToDAY, or anything ending with DAY (which found its usage in this universe as promotional slogans).

Emerald Television was thought by former owner, Vanquish Media. Probably formed from 'the Emerald Island'.

What identifies your company well in the logo alone? For example, the symbols in it, or the font? (Colours and all that don't count!)

'Cut-out L', DINMittelschrift and (even though it doesn't count!) light grey->dark grey gradient.

If you produce programmes, how do you think up programmes, and in particular names of them?

The Studio Floor. Name taken from one of bids for London Weekday franchise. Content remade by myself, changing format and putting it into UK-wide network space.

Quality Contest, In Other News, And Finally - tweaks of Russian (sometimes former) formats.

How importantly do you take action with your franchise?
Now, I'm preparing for re-launch of emerald1 and launch of emerald2. As David, even through I'm limited in time, I try to do as much as I can.
